How to Charge a Scissor Lift
Many people appreciate the convenience of utilizing a scissor lift. The ease of working and the safety offered from the lift's basket provide much more piece of mind than attempting to perform a similar job utilizing the step of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this equipment make it the right option for performing jobs from heights.
The majority of scissor lifts are powered electrically by batteries which have been mounted directly onto the machine. These batteries would have to be charged following a long shift or after sitting for extended periods without use. It is a simple job to charge the batteries. This can be done without any specialized equipment or tools and needs no heavy labor.
The machinery needs to be positioned near an electrical output so as to prepare the scissor lift for charging. This charging place must also be in a well-ventilated place. Then, in order to prevent another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the big red button located near the control box or the charger, in the lift basket. Find the battery charger on the right side of the base of the lift. Often, older units would have the charger mounted on the back of the lift.
Then, plug the charger into the AC extension cord. Be certain you are charging in a place which is well ventilated and after that plug the extension cord into an electrical outlet. So as to prevent accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is intentionally short. This is because if any extra length were to drop out of the battery charger storage area when in use, extreme danger could likely take place.
