Manitou Aerial Lifts
There are several applications which entail much more reach than the usual job. For these instances, the ever-growing range of telescopic and articulating booms is a good alternative. Bi-energy or electric or engine-powered booms are great for outdoor, indoor or rough-terrain use, so technically, there is a suitable boom lift available for every type of job. Just take the time to figure out what types of capacities you would need to get the job done and what type of loads you will be handling.
Articulating booms are described as aerial work platforms that use multiple boom sections that articulate or hinge. These equipment provide a maximum reach of 6.25 meters or 21 feet 5 inches to 69 feet 9 inches or 21.26 meters. These models could vary in height between 11.14 meters and 36 feet or 141 feet or 43.15 meters. Articulated boom units are often classified by platform height and by horizontal reach.
To access work areas over barriers and obstacles like machinery or shelving, the articulating booms are usually used. They have less horizontal outreach compared to telescopic booms, but the articulating booms offer better positioning and greater versatility. This enables better access for overhead work areas from congested places and from aisles. Throughout the variety of articulating booms, the majority of them are able to hold weight capacities of up to 500 lbs. or 227 kg. These machines are able to lift 2 operators and their tools easilyand at times extra materials.
There are both rough terrain and industrial articulating booms, like scissor lifts. Industrial models are normally equipped with non-marking tires and are intended for indoor use. The majority of articulated boom manufacturers use clean burning fuels like DC electric power or LPG or liquid propane gas for their industrial units. AC drive system technology is popular in industrial forklifts, although it is new to the market of aerial work platforms. This technology combines DC batteries along with 3-phase AC drive motors for more continuous control of turning, braking and drive speed and overall energy efficient operation.
Rough-terrain units are particularly engineered to negotiate rugged construction site locations. With features like diesel engines, lug-tread tires, an oscillating axle and 4-wheel drive, these specialized things are common-place on rough-terrain articulating booms. These heavy-duty add-ons are what make these equipment able to withstand the rough environments they work in.
